Curatorial Statement:

"Seen and Captured: Visibly Vibrant" presents a powerful snapshot of urban life in Africa, captured through the lenses of eight photographers from five countries. This exhibition aims to showcase the positive energy and rich cultural heritage found in the continent's cities. Through images of bustling markets, cultural celebrations, and traditional crafts like fabric printing, we aim to offer a more nuanced and uplifting view of African urban environments.

These photographs highlight the daily lives of people, demonstrating their resilience, creativity, and contribution to their communities. By focusing on the vibrant aspects of city life, the exhibition seeks to challenge negative stereotypes and promote a more accurate understanding of the diverse experiences within African cities. We believe that visual storytelling can play a crucial role in fostering understanding and promoting positive narratives.
