Curatorial Statement:

With Impact in Mind group photography exhibition showcases the power of visual storytelling to shape and shift narratives and drive social change. Through the work of 14 photographers from 12 African countries, the exhibition delves into pressing issues like climate change, exploring the impact of floods and droughts on vulnerable communities. It also highlights stories of resilience, such as healthcare workers navigating challenging circumstances. By giving voice to underrepresented communities, the exhibition aims to not only raise awareness but inspire photographers to use their work to tell more stories and partner with communities for a cause.

This exhibition is part of Unpublished Africa's Photography Week, which focused on the role of photography in social impact. Through discussions, workshops, and exhibitions, we explored how photographers can use their work to document important issues, challenge the status quo, and create a more just and equitable world. We encourage you to engage with the exhibited works, consider the stories behind the images, and reflect on the power of visual storytelling to effect change.
